Robbin Hickman

Robbin Hickman, PT, DSc, PCS
Assistant Professor

Dr. Hickman received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physical Therapy from California State University, Long Beach in 1979.  She received a Master of Health Science (MHS) degree in neurologic/pediatric physical therapy from the University of Indianapolis in 2001  She was awarded her Doctor of Science (DSc) degree in pediatric physical therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2007. 
Dr. Hickman is also a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy (PCS).  She currently serves on the Treatment Outcomes Committee Single Subject Research Design Subcommittee for the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Dr. Hickman teaches foundations of observation and assessment, evidence-based practice, neurologic rehabilitation, advanced topics in physical therapy, geriatric and pediatric rehabilitation, and issues in rural health.

Research Interests

Environmental influences on children’s developmental outcomes, screening and assessment in children, use of constraint-induced movement in individuals with Brachial Plexus Injury, and Single Subject Research designs.

Professional experience

Dr. Hickman has worked as a staff therapist in a variety of settings including early intervention, public schools, private practice, outpatient, and hospital settings.  She has also worked as Senior Projects Administrator at the Nevada University Center for Excellence in Disabilities and as Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky Center for Rural Health in Hazard, Kentucky.  She has served on the Neuromuscular subcommittee of the Annual Conference Program Committee of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Continuing Education Committee of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
