Evidence-Based Physical Therapy (EBPT)
Welcome to the UNLV evidence-based physical therapy practice (EBPT) website. Here you will find information and links that will help you engage in or make decisions about physical therapy care based on the evidence. It is important to keep in mind that EBPT has 3 components: the best available research evidence, the clinical judgment of the therapist, and the patient's values and preferences regarding their own physical therapy care. We have focused here on the evidence piece with the recognition that it is only ONE piece of the EBPT puzzle.
Our entry-level and transitional DPT clinician-students have analyzed and summarized the evidence contained on these pages. You will find
- Critically Appraised Topics (CATs) which are brief summaries of the best available evidence related to a specific clinical questions. They contain clinical bottom lines designed to help busy clinicians access evidence efficiently.
- Tests and measures which provide descriptions, psychometric properties, and availability of tests and measures used by physical therapists as diagnostic or outcome measures.
- Helpful links to other sources of information related to EBPT.
